Just one thing : It could work for others software and due to this, I would suggest you to consider in your exiftool step writing in GPSLatitudeRef, GPSLongitudeRef, GPSAltitudeRef tags.
Not difficult because it’s the same information except GPSAltitudeRef.

When adding GPS information to an image, it is important to set all of the following tags: GPSLatitude, GPSLatitudeRef, GPSLongitude, GPSLongitudeRef, and GPSAltitude and GPSAltitudeRef if the altitude is known.
