As said in the title, Emlid Flow crashes when I shift from any tab to the projects/surveys tab.
While the app was working fine, I tried exporting a survey project (small, 15 points or so) to a CSV file (to Google Drive). It remained processing for a while (10 minutes), without anything happening. I shut the app down, and tried launching it again. Now I can’t access to the projects tab without the app crashing. I rebooted the smartphone with no effect (Crosscall Stellar X5). Emlid Flow v14.
Any clue? No need to stay that those points are important and that I can’t afford to lose neither this survey, nor the other ones stored in the app that I did later…
Tu as été contacté ? je n’arrive pas vraiment à avancer de mon côté je suis désespéré.
As tu une idée d’où sont stockés nos fichiers projets en local sur le téléphone ?
We’ve started upgrading our database infrastructure, which caused some sync issues on our side. Sorry for all the inconvenience. The devs are actively working to get everything fixed as quickly as possible. Once we have any news, I’ll be sure to let you know. In the meantime, please don’t reinstall or delete the app.
Yes, I can access the app and switch between the other tabs. My files are stored locally, not in the cloud. I already had to reinstall the app before for some other bug, and yes, I remember that it deleted all former projects, so… it would ruin two days of work, and I wouldn’t be particularly happy with that.
We’ve released v13 for Android with a critical bug that affects users who work offline without sync, or have just recently created an account. In other words, we screwed up. I completely understand, how annoying it must be to have an app crashing when you just go to the survey tab. I would be upset. We apologize for any inconvenience we have caused with this botched update.
v13.1 for Android is available now, that should fix your access to the survey tab. Please update through the Play Store, and don’t reinstall the app.
Under the hood this app version will process all your data, so it might take a bit during your first launch, especially if you have a lot of points. If you still experience crashes on the survey tab, it means you need to wait for the data to be processed, before going to the survey tab. This is an imperfect solution to a problem that shouldn’t have been there to begin with, but it’s something we could deliver as fast as possible so that you can restore access to your data.
Please let us know, whether the update fixed access for you.
I apologize for accidently double posting this in the French Language thread…
Good Morning. I am using a Galaxy S22 Ultra, Emlid Flow 13.1. Everything worked great 4 days ago, but this morning I can’t open the survey Tab. I logged into my account on the phone and it says it Synched my data today, but I have no idea how to access any of it. It will be a soul crusher if I have to wade the 5 miles of shoreline with the gators and snakes again. lol
No worries about the double post, it may happen. Due to the new database infrastructure, we need to resync all your projects. If you have many projects, the sync might take a bit longer. Let’s try leaving Emlid Flow open without navigating to the Survey tab. Your phone should have an internet connection.
Is there any prompt to confirm the login in the Profile tab? Besides that, please check:
Profile → Preferences → Database backup if any projects are listed there.
Do your projects appear when you log into Emlid Flow 360
Thanks for giving it a try. Are those 48 projects all the ones you had in the app before? If they’re showing up in Emlid Flow 360, that means they’ve been fully synced to the cloud and are safe in your account.
Let’s try reinstalling Emlid Flow to see if that makes a difference. Please keep me in the loop.
Yes, the 48 projects appear to be the complete dataset. I reinstalled Emlid Flow, but unfortunately I still cannot access the survey tab. I cycled the power on the phone after reinstalling, and left the app open to sync. No Luck.
A few points of interest that may be helpful…
after a couple of reinstalls I notice that I could open the Survey tab as long as I was not logged in. I added a test project and collected a data point to save. I logged into my account on the device. The data from the test synched to 360, but does not stay in device memory. After logging in the app closes when I hit the survey tab.
Oh, I see. That’s actually an interesting way to work around the sync issues. But I understand the inconvenience this causes, and that’s definitely not how it should work normally. We’ve received a few similar reports on version 13.1, and our developers are already looking into it. I’ll keep you posted as soon as we have any updates.
