I have a tall ask of Emlid but I know that this is the next big step in GNSS technology. Please look into incorporating camera technology in the receiver. There are a few examples out there already, such as CHCNav and the Leica GS18, which allow you to collect imagery for photogrammetric/visual surveying and/or 3D modeling. I tried out the CHCNav a little and, while I was impressed with the receiver, I did not enjoy their data collection software for many, one of which is its incompatibility with my RTS, and the rover was not fully compatible with my FieldGenius. I have no tried out the Leica system because that price point is out of reach. However, I confident that the developers at Emlid are capable of building on the RS3 to produce a solid visual surveying receiver to compliment the UAV field and at an affordable price.
Yeah, we’re all HOPING for the same with so much advancement by other brands. (Tilt, built in cams for data collection, staking, AR, laser EDM, laser layout projection, LiDAR scanning, L5+ etc etc) But yes, there is ALWAYS something that wasn’t completely thought out or ready with the chinese brands. I.e. even with all those features, they seem to be very proprietary and ONLY work with their software solution and not with Microsurvey FieldGenius due to to obvious competition reasons or poor coordination if any at all. Microsurvey and Emlid are slow as molasses either way unfortunately trickling much needed features out in their ANDROID and iOS solutions. It’s taking WAAAAAY too long. Getting old fast.
So if your serious in business, probably best to hock your house, make payments for a TURNKEY system from Leica or Trimble for EVERYTHING you dream of. (They also fall short too, and then have to hock a family member for the next thing).
It’s long past time Emlid knocks our socks off again as when they 1st came on the scene. But at the rate of the implementation of software features, I have a sense of there may not be enough developer manpower? Being real here. Constructive critism is all. Take it or leave it.
Yes, probably too much of a BOLD request.
They have been secretly researching & developing all these feature sets into the RS4 units that will be revealed in Q1 of 2025
I’m hopeful but not holding my breath for Q1, 2025. Maybe RS4i in Q3, 2027 lol
Is this sarcasm i assume?
Would be a real disruptor as before if they did.
Hi @jaredplnormand, Thank you for the feedback regarding this. For now, I can only put it as a feature request, and if there is any update regarding this, I will definitely notify you!
Early April Fools Joke…?
No.
Just being hopeful/ wishful thinking.
@merryna.anggriani will update us in a few months when it is a reality.
