Hello everyone. I have an issue regarding the height of the base. I use emlid reach rs2.
When I go to work in a place where I don’t know the point where I establish my base, I set it to Average Single and take the height from the ground to the antenna. Now, the next day, if I have not post-processed, I proceed to establish the base in Manual with the coordinates of the points file and from the elevation indicated in that file I subtract the height of the antenna measured on day one. I do this because I have verified that the one that appears in the file includes said height. When post-processing, when converting the ubx to rinex, the emlid studio asks you for the height of the antenna, and there I enter the height of day 1. Last week I worked like this, and oh surprise, after post-processing the information, and check some controls that I left in the field, the height of the processed point includes the height of the antenna on day 1, which is wrong. Is this happening to anyone? Am I misunderstanding some concept? I appreciate your comments.
Scary Stuff
For a future workaround perhaps you could use a consistent Receiver Height to reduce instances such as these.
I am really interested in seeing the solution to this published here.
I think when you input manual coordinates you put everything in exactly like the averaged one computed
Hi @james.barnes,
In Emlid Studio, did you use the coordinates from the RINEX header? Or did you manually enter the ground coordinates of your base, the antenna type, and the pole height?
Yes, rinex header
Oh, I see. The RINEX header coordinates are based on the antenna phase center. So, if you manually specify the antenna type and pole height, then Studio will add this to your height for computation. This is probably why you see this shift in height after post-processing.
